how to properly place new employees

1. put 400 bricks in a closed room.
2. put your new employees in the room and close the door.
3.leave them alone and come back after 6 hours.

then analyze the situation:

a. if they are counting the bricks put them in the accounting department.

b. if they are recounting them, put them in auditing.

c. if they have messed up the whole place with the bricks, put them in engineering.

d. if they are arranging the bricks in some strange order, put them in planning.

e. if they are throwing the bricks at each other, put them in operations.

f. if they are sleeping, put them in security.

g. if they have broken the bricks into pieces, put them in information technology.

h. if they are sitting idle, put them in human resources.

i. if they say they have tried different combinations, they are looking for more, yet not a brick has been moved, put them in sales.

j. if they have already left for the day, put them in marketing.

k. if they are staring out of the window, put them in strategic planning.

l. if they are talking to each other, and not a single brick has been moved, congratulate them and put them in top management.

finally, if they have surrounded themselves with bricks in such a way that they can neither be seen nor heard from, put them in government.

now i know why i wanted to be in top management. hihihi

the starfish

got this bulletin post from erid:

an old man was walking along the beach, when he came upon a part of the sand where thousands of starfish had washed ashore.
a little further down the beach he saw a young woman, who was picking up the starfish one at a time and tossing them back into the ocean.
"oh you silly girl," he exclaimed. "you can't possibly save all of these starfish. there's too many."
the woman smiled and said, "i know. but i can save this one, " and she tossed another into the ocean,
"and this one", toss, "and this one..."

ok na sana kaso ang moral nya: wag magkakalat sa dagat para hindi nagpupuntahan yung mga starfish sa shore. napapagod din kaya yung babaeng nagpupulot. ang labo. hahaha

a smarter alternative

most of you might have seen the smart bro prepaid ad and are wondering if it really is too good to be true. the starter kit is priced at php4500 preloaded with php30. broadband internet use is php10 for every 30 minutes. afterwards, your usage will be based on your purchasing power for a prepaid card. i was able to give it a try and believe me, you're better off using dial-up. i'm not going into details on how slow the service is. just imagine, i accessed friendster and it took 10 minutes to load the login page. not a smart choice at all.

but here's a better alternative from smart if you really want wireless internet with "tolerable" speed. yes, i'm saying tolerable, not broadband. if you have a nokia 3g phone, you're off to a good start. the thing is, smart bro prepaid uses the same signal that carries their 3g services (video call, video streaming, wap). all you have to do is install the nokia pc suite (it comes with your phone kit) on your pc, plug your phone via usb, connect to the net and wallah, you're all set. but don't expect this to have the same speed that you have when browsing at the office. it's far better than dial-up but it won't compare to dsl. if you want dsl, go get dsl, period. it has the same rate as using your 3g phone as internet modem.

although i say this as a better alternative, there's a downside when using your 3g phone as a modem. though you can still receive call and sms, the lifespan of your phone will be dramatically affected as it is used everytime it needs to connect to the internet. better have your charger with you all the time when doing this. you can either use your 3g phone as a modem, or buy the kit from them and use that as an internet modem. same rate, no lock-in period.

bet on it

everybody's always talkin' at me
everybody's tryin' to get in my head
i wanna listen to my own heart talkin'
i need to count on myself instead

did you ever
lose yourself to get what you want
did you ever
get on a ride and wanna get off
did you ever
push away the ones you should've held close
did you ever let go
did you ever not know

i'm not gonna stop
that's who i am
i'll give it all i got
that is my plan
will i find what i lost
you know you can
bet on it, bet on it, bet on it, bet on it (bet on me)

bet on it, bet on it, bet on it, bet on it

how will i know if there's a path worth takin'
should i question every move i make
with all i've lost, my heart is breakin'
i don't wanna make the same mistakes

did you ever
doubt your dream will ever come true
did you ever
blame the world but never blame you
i will never
try to live a lie again
i don't wanna win this game if i can't play it my way

i'm not gonna stop
that's who i am (who i am)
i'll give it all i got
that is my plan (that's my plan)
will i find what i lost
you know you can (you know you can)
bet on it, bet on it, bet on it, bet on it (bet on me)
i wanna make it right
that is the way
to turn my life around
today is the day
am i the type of guy who means what i say
bet on it, bet on it, bet on it, bet on it

oh, hold up
give me room to think
bring it on down
gotta work on my swing
gotta do my own thing
hold up

it's no good at all
to see yourself and not recognize your face
out on my own
it's such a scary place
ooh
the answers are all inside of me
all i gotta do
is believe

i'm not gonna stop
not gonna stop till i get my shot
that's who i am
that is my plan
will i end up on top again

batman suparman at your service

got this from pex:

this is a story of one poor customer officer who receive calls on a daily basis. one day he has to endure the conversation as follows:

customer: may i know your name?

agent: batman...

customer: may i know your name?

agent: my name is batman...

customer: trying to be funny?!?! what is your surname?

agent: suparman..

customer: (shouting) i want to speak with your manager!!!

according to the pexers, this is a true story. his father's name is suparman. that's how islamic names are. you take your father's first name as your last name. and "bin" stands for "son of". thus that would translate to "batman son of suparman".

kewl! @_@

keep 'em coming!

just checked my blog stats a few minutes ago and was surprised that i got 118 offsite clicks and 104 page views on a single day!!! omg!!! i don't check my blog stats that often anymore as i have been busy with other things so my jaw literally dropped when i saw these numbers pop up on my screen. ayayay!!! where did you all come from??? anyway, i'm not complaining. just shocked. O_O

the etc/2nd avenue addiction

i was always an avid viewer of star world since it's premature days. star tv first launched it as "star plus" before getting it's current name. whenever i had the liberty to do channel surfing, i always make sure that it's on star and i'm so glued to this station for hours. name any program that was shown on this channel and chances are, i've seen it. remington steele, small wonder, peanuts, friends, jag, baywatch.. name it. yes, even santa barbara! and so years went by and times have changed. i'm no longer a star world fan. etc/2nd avenue is now my new addiction. etc is a philippine television channel produced and founded by solar entertainment which also created its sister station, 2nd avenue. it is currently available over the philippine free-tv after it had been pulled out by skycable from it's channel line-up. they feature talk shows, dating shows, sitcoms, drama series, reality shows and entertainment news from the u.s. which is pretty much similar to star world.

it all started when i wanted to have cable tv after moving to my new place. at first i was pissed because the management of the building only allows global destiny as the cable provider. pissed at global destiny because first, they don't have star world, star movies and axn. and second, they do have a lot of channels but the problem is, half of their channel line-up is a non-english/tagalog channel. if i could only speak mandarin and korean, maybe i can appreciate it! and so i subscribed to global destiny since i didn't have a choice. this is where the addiction begins. i was starting to miss my star world and etc/2nd avenue came to the rescue. what else can i do? they were my only choice. i was really hesitant at first. i thought these channels might just be another studio 23 which doesn't really fit my taste (no offense to any s23 viewers though). but i was wrong. days and weeks passed by and before i knew it, i was glued to etc and 2nd avenue.

i really commend solar entertainment's programming staff for selecting the best canned programmes from the u.s. for their line-up. with this kind of programming, i must say that they are totally at par with star world's service. two thumbs up for etc and 2nd avenue! my viewing habits have never been the same! ^_^

what constitutes a good life? by jim rohn

got this inspirational article from arie:

the ultimate expression of life is not a paycheck. the ultimate expression of life is not a mercedes. the ultimate expression of life is not a million dollars or a bank account or a home. here's the ultimate expression of life in my opinion, and that is living a good life. here's what we must ask constantly, "what for me would be a good life?" and you have to keep going over and over the list. a list including areas such as spirituality, economics, health, relationships and recreation. what would constitute a good life? i've got a short list.

1. productivity. you won't be happy if you don't produce. the game of life is not rest. we must rest, but only long enough to gather strength to get back to productivity. what's the reason for the seasons and the seeds, the soil and the sunshine, the rain and the miracle of life? it's to see what you can do with it. to try your hand, other people have tried their hand; here's what they did. you try your hand to see what you can do. so part of life is productivity.

2. good friends. friendship is probably the greatest support system in the world. don't deny yourself the time to develop this support system. nothing can match it. it's extraordinary in its benefit. friends are those wonderful people who know all about you and still like you. a few years ago i lost one of my dearest friends. he died at age 53 - heart attack. david is gone, but he was one of my very special friends. i used to say of david that if i was stuck in a foreign jail somewhere accused unduly and if they would allow me one phone call, i would call david. why? he would come and get me. that's a friend. somebody who would come and get you. now we've all got casual friends. and if you called them they would say, "hey, if you get back, call me we'll have a party." so you've got to have both, real friends and casual friends.

3. your culture. your language, your music, the ceremonies, the traditions, the dress. all of that is so vitally important that you must keep it alive. in fact it is the uniqueness of all of us that when blended together brings vitality, energy, power, influence, uniqueness and rightness to the world.

4. spirituality. it helps to form the foundation of the family that builds the nation. and make sure you study, practice and teach. don't be careless about the spiritual part of your nature, it's what makes us who we are, different from animal, dogs, cats, birds and mice. spirituality.

5. don't miss anything. my parents taught me not to miss anything. don't miss the game. don't miss the performance, don't miss the movie, don't miss the show, don't miss the dance. go to everything you possible can. buy a ticket to everything you possibly can. go see everything and experience all you possible can. this has served me so well to this day. just before my father died at age 93 if you were to call him at 10:30 or 11:00 at night, he wouldn't be home. he was at the rodeo, he was watching the kids play softball, he was listening to the concert, he was at church, he was somewhere every night.

live a vital life. here's one of the reasons why. if you live well, you will earn well. if you live well it will show in your face, it will show in the texture of your voice. there will be something unique and magical about you if you live well. it will infuse not only your personal life but also your business life. and it will give you a vitality nothing else can give.

6. your family and the inner circle. invest in them and they'll invest in you. inspire them and they'll inspire you. with your inner circle take care of the details. when my father was still alive, i used to call him when i traveled. he'd have breakfast most every morning with the farmers. little place called the decoy inn out in the country where we lived in southwest idaho.

so papa would go there and have breakfast and i'd call him just to give him a special day. now if i was in israel i'd have to get up in the middle of the night, but it only took five minutes, ten minutes. so i'd call papa and they'd bring him the phone. i'd say, "papa i'm in israel." he'd say, "israel! son, how are things in israel?" he'd talk real loud so everybody could hear - my son's calling me from israel. i'd say, "papa last night they gave me a reception on the rooftop underneath the stars overlooking the mediterranean." he'd say, "son, a reception on the rooftop underneath the stars overlooking the mediterranean." now everybody knows the story. it only took 5 - 10 minutes, but what a special day for my father, age 93.

if a father walks out of the house and he can still feel his daughter's kiss on his face all day, he's a powerful man. if a husband walks out of the house and he can still feel the imprint of his wife's arms around his body he's invincible all day. it's the special stuff with the inner circle that makes you strong and powerful and influential. so don't miss that opportunity. here's the greatest value. the prophet said, "there are many virtues and values, but here's the greatest, one person caring for another." there is no greater value than love. better to live in a tent on the beach with someone you love than to live in a mansion by yourself. one person caring for another, that's one of life's greatest expressions.

so make sure in your busy day to remember the true purpose and the reasons you do what you do. may you truly live the kind of life that will bring the fruit and rewards that you desire.

to your success,
jim rohn

after reading this article, i realized that i made the right choices after all. for someone who only thinks about success rather than happiness, i'm pretty sure he'll disagree with the decisions that i made. but i am happy and i still am right now. happy because i know i had a purpose and i was able to fulfill that purpose. better days ahead. ^_^

prison vs. work

just in case you ever get these two environments mixed up, this should make things a little bit clearer.

prison: you spend the majority of your time in a 10X10 cell
work: you spend the majority of your time in a 6X6 cubicle/office

prison: you get three meals a day fully paid for
work: you get a break for one meal and you have to pay for it

prison: you get time off for good behavior
work: you get more work for good behavior

prison: the guard locks and unlocks all the doors for you
work: you must often carry a security card and open all the doors for yourself

prison: you can watch tv and play games
work: you could get fired for watching tv and playing games

prison: you get your own toilet
work: you have to share the toilet with some people who pee on the seat

prison: they allow your family and friends to visit
work: you aren't even supposed to speak to your family

prison: all expenses are paid by the taxpayers with no work required
work: you get to pay all your expenses to go to work, and they deduct taxes from your salary to pay for prisoners

prison: you spend most of your life inside bars wanting to get out
work: you spend most of your time wanting to get out and go inside bars

prison: you must deal with sadistic wardens
work: they are called managers

there is something seriously wrong with this picture.
now get back to work. you're not getting paid to check blogs! ahihihi ^_^

the domokun invasion

come thursday and i will be getting my much awaited domokun necklace from kelly. weee!!
i thought a flight to japan is the only way for me to get this kind of bling bling. thanks to binky, i didn't have to wait that long.

binky is an online fashionista seller. i was actually interested in buying a guitar necklace from her multiply site and just wondered if she can make a domokun one. fortunately, and amazingly, she can!

in case you're wondering, domokun is the mascot of japan's nhk television station, appearing in several 30 second stop-motion sketches shown as station identification during shows. he is described on the english-language official website as "a strange creature that hatched from an egg." the name "domo" was acquired during the second episode of his show in which a tv announcer said, "doumo, konnichiwa" which is a formal greeting meaning something along the lines of, "well, hello there!", or "hello, domo!", and thus is a convenient dajare. the kun suffix on "domo-kun" is a friendly title often used with young males. oh and that's kelly's hand modelling her domokun ring. another dream come true for me.

thanks kelly! domokun buddies! ^_^

the donkey attitude

got this from ebeng:
one day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well.
the animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do.
finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway;
it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.

he invited all his neighbors to come over and help him.
they all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well.
at first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly.
then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.

a few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well.
he was astonished at what he saw.
with each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing.
he would shake it off and take a step up.

as the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal,
he would shake it off and take a step up.
pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up
over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

moral:
life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt.
the trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up.
each of our troubles is a steppingstone.
we can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up!
shake it off and take a step up.

remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. free your heart from hatred - forgive.
2. free your mind from worries - most never happens.
3. live simply and appreciate what you have.
4. give more.
5. expect less from people but more from God.

goodbye multiply, hello wtm

just found out that multiply has removed the download link for music files. here's what i found about it:

multiply inc. sued by major label
capitol records, and a host of other entities owned and/or controlled by label giant emi music, sued the company multiply inc. in the united states district court, southern district of new york. plaintiffs allege copyright infringement arising from unauthorized use and exploitation of original sound and video recordings by encouraging and enabling users of multiply to upload and share performances of well-known musical groups.

awww, so much for free mp3's. so i tried looking for alternatives and i stumbled upon a discussion at yahoo answers that there's this site that has a huge collection of mp3's. the site is wheresthatmusic.com

so i gave it a try and oh boy, they do have lots of mp3's. name it and chances are, they have it! and they even have opm's! (that's short for original pilipino music in case you don't know).

so it's goodbye multiply and hello wtm! ^_^

update: got this from jepoy. you can still download music from multiply. you just have to play the music at your windows media player and click save media as at the file tab. hoorah! so it's totally not goodbye multiply! thanks bro! ^_^

hungree no more

i've always been craving about this huge burger from hungree burgers. not anymore... ^_^
they don't have a delivery service so you have to go there if you really want to try it. ryki was kind enough to order for us and after an hour, he came back like santa claus delivering the much awaited presents.

anyone heard about the story of the burger and the little cup?

the giants with jana & jrome..

size matters...

for 142 pesos, you'll get the whopping 8-inch super hungree and oh boy the price is so worth it. and we're not just talking about a plain-old sandwich here. it's complete with 3 slices of tomatoes, 3 slices of pickles, 2 slices of cheese, and mayo dressing. the burger was sliced into three. since i didn't had breakfast and lunch, i ate the first two slices like munchies (yeah, you heard that right). i was thinking of saving the third one for tomorrow but i couldn't resist the temptation. heehee.

makati's fireworks

the new year has always been an exciting event for me especially when i get a good spot for watching the fireworks. and one of the best place to watch the new year unfold is at the roofdeck of a 32-storey building in the middle of the metropolis. here's a clip of the video i took with my jvc everio gz-mg40u as we welcome 2008. enjoy! ^_^

move over william hung

anyone seen the recent american idol auditions in dallas, texas? a 44-year old filipino from reno, nevada, was given his moment in the spotlight and oh boy he really made william hung look as dull as cardboard. renaldo lapuz serenaded simon cowell with his own composition entitled "we're brothers forever".

after renaldo's song number, simon gave his assessment about the pinoy's performance: "i'm going to make a prediction here. i have a horrible feeling that it's going to be a hit record. you're very entertaining. i actually like you but it's going to be 'no.'"

awww, too bad he didn't make it. but as simon says, it's definitely going to be a hit. i won't be surprised if i see him perform on asap or sop anytime soon. nyar O_O

screw you mariel!

the bitch mariel did it again. if you can't hear what's she's saying from the video above, mariel rodriguez was cursing riza santos. you can get the full story here. at first i thought this was just a rumor or just another dirty tactic of defamation but after seeing that video, i couldn't believe the trash that came out of her mouth. for those who didn't know, she also said that the contestants from the noontime show wowowee (which she is a co-host) were stinky and called the artists from her former network "baduy". oh and she also said that showbiz was yucky. what a loser. i thought of her as good girl with a bubbly personality but this proved one hell of a trash bag out of her. i hope her career goes in the shit hole.
